A 12-game stint in the AHL with the Lock Monsters was the highest level of hockey that Blue Bennefield reached during his career.
A call-up direct from the UHL, Bennefield was brought in to, well, mix it up a bit on his way to racking up over 300 PIM that season but he also chipped in a couple goals and showed that he was not just a lower league goon.

Such a classy player off the ice too -- went out of his way to say hello and remembered my children's names as we crossed paths over two years after he last played in Hartford.
