Assistant captain A sewn on under Hartford Insurance sponsor patch. Left side of the nameplate shows some removed stitching from where a 'J.' was added when Mike Taylor joined the team briefly at the tail end of the 2007-2008 season.

Later in season, when the Caps acquired Dave Hannan, he took number 23 and Nycholat was assigned number 36 and number 38.
